Yellow...

This post is all yellow :) Took these in my office yesterday. Haven't come out quite like I expected :( Comments from pros really appreciated on how to get these to look better!

Wanted to get the water drops on the back of this one :) It looked so beautiful!

This one was still budding

There are so many things I wish I could have eliminated in this one, the green hose in the back, all the dirt in the lower right corner. Lesson learnt, look at the entire frame while taking the picture, not just the subject!!!

There's a mustard field right next to my office! I wish the mountains were not so hazy.

Just happened to come across your blog . Good Photos. Love the way the sun falls on the fields. Also a good photo for the rule of thirds.

quick questions - (try and not use technical terms)

1) what camera did you use
2) did you zoom into the subject or did you go close and click it
3)cleaning up is possible - one can do it in photoshop
if interested you can email me that particular photo - can experiment with it.
4)also the angle at which you have clicked is not getting you the desired effect....
like for instance - if you wanted to see the water drops - you might want to go lower and capture it with light coming thru the drops....best way is take multiple photos at different angles

@anamika, flyingstars Thank you :) Am getting some good tips here from friends, hopefully will get even better!

@ceedy
1) Its a small point-and-shoot Sony Cybershot DSC-W90
2) I try to get as close to the subject as possible, and then zoom if need be. These were mostly no zoom.
3) PS is another thing I want to learn to use. Will send you a pic, play with it and tell me what you did with it too :)
4) Hmmm...that letting the light through the water I have not tried...will try again today!
Thanks a lot!!!

Got the pic - will work on it...

Ok since its a point and shoot - I also recommend trying out different settings - like take the same picture with different modes

also try and take them at a little higher resolution...

lastly - try to stay atleast two -two and half feet away from the subject and zoom in - if you see your pictures closely - the surrounding looks blurred - this can affect the overall effect..

dont fret - i still use my 3.1 megapixels sony from 4 yrs back - all the pics you see on my blog are from that - keep experimenting....

and also I am waiting for -xh-'s reply - as I am not so tech savvy...

@veens That first pic is dreadful. I put ip up more as an example of what pics should not be like! I guess the problem with it is that the flower is smack in the middle of the frame, and fills up the whole thing, its obscene! Bechara phool sharma jayega apni photo dekhega to! And yes, I love this place! Every day there is something new I discover!

@ceedy ok, will see what all modes my little one has.
Hmm...I thought ke jitna kam zoom karo, utna zyaada achha hota hai.

I do have two other better cameras, a Sony DSC-V3, and a Nikon D200! But I always have the small one in my bag, and go shooting things every now and then. Am hoping to go out on a photo shoot one of these days with the D200, but need to read its manual properly first.

aner, ceedy hv given some excellent points. Dont get too close to your subject. As long as you restrict urself with use of digital zoom, the picture quality wont get affected. But dont use digital zoom - it will affect the quality.

when ever you take a picture, try different setttings, angles and frames. then compare them in a lrge screen. this will help you to frame teh subject in teh way you want.

U have got a D200... go and start using it. there are infinite possibilities to be unfolded. dont get confused by the manual or the settings. first put the D200 in auto mode adn click pictures. then go and read teh EXIF data, so that you will get an idea of what is teh aperture size and shutter speed the camera is using.

after taking pictures, you can alwsy clena up them, and there is nothing wrong in that. but somehow, i refrain fom doing it - insted, i do all teh post processing inside my caera by fiddling with the settings.

If you want your picture to ahev more contrast, open the picture in photoshop. clone the picture to a new layer, and change the blending more to Multiply and play with teh opacity of teh top layer.
IF you want to bring out more colour from the picture, open teh picture and then go to Image->Adjust -> auto contrast. (u can try auto color and level too)

whenever you take a picture, try to keep the focus on teh subject ratehr than keeping it all over. it will give you desired effect.

start playing with D200 - you will love it.
